Antique quilt

sorry this pic is upside down
I have had this quilt for a period of time. Found it in Great Britain during the 80´s and
loved it. I do not have it anymore, had to sell it because of space here in Sweden. I had a good collection by then.

This quilt is very special.
It might have been sent to a exhibition in London in 1935 but that is speculations.

it is probably made in early 1900 and quite unusual because it is made in a pattern called
shell or clamshell in US. As it is quite hard to make a whole quilt in this pattern it has normally been used in combination with other patterns. It was mostly used by people living near the ocean.

You can judge the age by the printed fabric.
I just love these little children and and dogs and houses.

and the soft colours .....

here you can see the layout of the quilt. In the middle you see flowers and
then the shell-shapes goes in each direction

This is not winter

this is my morning view when walking my dog
Tis is autumn for me, nature fading away

To keep it brownish
I stay inside baking bread
thinking brown

love this brownish door and keep
wondering about what the inside is like

adding a brownish piece that matches my colours of the day

winterbook

I just completed my winterbook, one of them, and I had no difficulties
to fill the spreads with winterfeelings and memories

one page from the book, including a painting from Swedish painter
watch his fantastic aquarelles

another spread

if you look closely, you see little me with a
kind of furcoat

there is a puter part of a wristband behind the ring

a reindeer is a great symbol for my childhood

colours of cold weather

winterdays are mostly dark, dec-jan

these colours reminds me of late spring when snow is melting
and the ground under snow is showing.
Not the best of times but promising summer

here we see patches of snow here and there still left but not
for long

this is what the book look like when closed. it was a fun thing to do
and is a mix of paper, paint, fabric and found objects

this little project is one of many to come on my pathways

Gällivare Old Church

this little church was the first church built in 1747.
It was built to christen the laponian people who were said to be
hedonian. Nobody asked them what they wanted, nor respected their
own religion. Society has treated the Laponian people with great disrespect
over time.
The state ordered the inhabitants of Sweden to each contribute with 1öre (the
smallest amount there was. We needed to Christen these poor laps.
So the church was built.
It´s beautiful situated by the river of Vassara.
As you see it is closed wintertime but very popular to visit during summer.
What you see here above is the place where you leave weapons before entering
the actual church

Above the church

a found pic from the church in summer.
It is the oldest building in the town and people do get married
here
